Well, Just when I thought it was all over and gave up all hope, the Wasatch was blessed with heavy snowfall (2 to 3 feet in areas) of our usual preference...high density, low moisture fluffy greatness. Although this season was pretty terrible for me for many reasons, just one good day outdoors with friends is enough to remind me how much magic surrounds me every day. On the morning of April 16th, my backyard was coated in white and surrounded by misty clouds, singing in the sunlight. I knew it was going to be a good day. I met up with a good friend of mine I have not seen in years, and we decided to head up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Brighton. After a good hike, I was able to get this somewhat decent shot of me with Timpanogos in the background. It was quite gusty up there, knocking me off the steep boot pack every now and then, sending one of my feet hip deep into nowheresville. I was however very warm and regulated during the hike and on the way down thanks to my Minus 33 clothing. This season was meant to contain some of the best shots that I have ever been able to produce and instead, I am just happy to have been able to get one decent day out of it. It was the worst season for us since the 1800's when we first started keeping track of that sort of thing. Alas, my new powder sticks remain un mounted and ignored, but they look pretty damn good just leaning up against the living room wall. Let's just say I have some decent goals for next season. It's not over until the fat lady sings! Cheers, - Evan
