    ApacheBlue - :

Absolutely the best merino wool shirt I have ever purchased (and I have purchased a lot). For size comparison, I am six feet, four inches tall, 40 inch waist and 215 pounds. I wear a size 37 length sleeve. Size 2XL fits me perfectly in sleeve length and body length. I have merino wool garments from all the well known manufacturers. This Minus 33 wool shirt is a quality made garment in every sense. The thumb holes are placed perfectly on the shirt sleeve. The thumb holes have additional stitching around the holes to ensure your shirt is held securely by the thumb. The weight is hefty. Before opening the box, I knew I had a substantial wool garment. The stitching is excellent throughout. The zipper is easy to raise and lower and expertly attached to the shirt. The high collar is a plus and sits nicely against your neck. I absolutely love everything about this shirt. And by the way, it's the warmest merino I have. This shirt will get plenty of action during the 2016/2017 winter season here in Colorado. I am happy, happy, happy. Minus 33 is, indeed, #1 in Merino garments.

Fit is very good XXXL I'm 6'1" 270 lbs. Very heavy top more like a sweater than a base layer. Very warm I can't wait to test it out in this cold MI. weather.

Mid Layer
Mid Layer

The Mid Layer is your second layer. It should provide insulation, and be breathable. It can also be an outer layer if weather permits. Proper layering of your garments is very important and in extreme cases may save your life. Consider your activities carefully and plan for the unexpected. Learn more about layering.

Insulating Layer
Insulating Layer

The Insulating Layer is used when the weather leans more towards the cold side. It is a second Mid Layer that provides extra warmth and is breathable. Proper layering of your garments is very important and in extreme cases may save your life. Consider your activities carefully and plan for the unexpected. Learn more about layering.

Regular Fit
Regular Fit

Standard fit with a little bit of room, but not baggy. Works best as a base layer, or when worn alone. Can also be worn as a mid or insulating layer. If you are looking for a tighter, athletic fit, try going to the next size down. Learn About Fit & Sizing.

1/4 Zip
Quarter Zip

1/4 Zipper to allow for venting when down and providing a mock neck when zippered up.

Mock Neck
Mock Neck

Mock neck adds extra warmth without being too bulky. Halfway between a turtle neck and a crew neck, this style sits close to the neck and gives you an extra bit of fabric between your neck and your second or shell layer.

Thumb Holes
Thumb Holes

Thumb holes are slits in fabric near the cuff of a sleeve to allow thumbs to go through. This allows for extra coverage on the back of the hands and palms to provide extra warmth and also makes it easier to pull layers under others.

Zipper Garage
Zipper Garage

A zipper garage provides a place at the top of the zipper for the zipper pulls to go which reduces chafing and irritation. Zipper garage also prevents the cold metal from touching the skin.

Flat Lock Seams
Flat Lock Seams

Flat lock seams allow for ultimate comfort, preventing chafing and allowing your clothes to move with you. Flat lock seams are stronger, helping your garments last.

Ribbed Cuffs
Ribbed Cuffs

Ribbed cuffs are more durable, and stretch with your body. Because they stretch to fit, they help keep heat locked into your body.

Total Easy Care
Total Easy Care TEC

Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today’s busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying. Even after frequent laundering they retain an ‘as new’ appearance. They won’t shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment. TEC is a textile innovation used by Minus33 that was developed by the Woolmark Company.

Moisture Wicking
Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere. Wool is a classic natural insulator, but is just as effective in warmer weather due to its rapid moisture wicking ability. Learn more about wool properties.

Anti-Microbial and Odor Resistant
Anti Microbial and Odor Resistant

With less moisture comes less odor. Minus33 Merino Wool resists against microbes and odor, so foot fungus and smelly odor will NOT be a problem while wearing our products. Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away. This means you don’t have to wash wool as often. Less laundry means less water being used, benefiting our planet. Learn more about wool properties.

Insulates When Wet
Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, whether it be from sweat, weather, or water bodies, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials. This is especially important if you are in a survival situation, and can help prevent or delay hypothermia depending on the conditions. Learn more about wool properties.

Fire Resistant
Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do. For this reason, merino is popular among military, firefighting, and law enforcement communities. Learn more about wool properties.
