Our Midweight styles have all the same natural qualities as our Lightweight Merino Wool, with greater insulation. Minus33 Merino Wool Clothing is perfect as a base layer for a day on the slopes or as an emergency pullover when a cold front rolls in just before you summit.
Why Merino Wool?
TOTAL EASY CARE
MACHINE WASH AND DRY
Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today's busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying.
Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.
I don’t understand the reviews. This is thin, baggy, and useless. I also bought a pair of midweight bottoms, but I haven’t used them enough for a solid review yet. But the midweight balaclava is useless for keeping warm. Even if the intention is to just be a base layer and you have something over it, like a neck gaiter and hat, it’s too baggy that it wouldn’t stay in place for that to be effective. I have an old fleece balaclava I’ve had forever that will keep me warm in 10F by itself, and wick, even though it’s not wool, and it was just a random brand from a military store for cheap. I wore the Minus33 balaclava in 20F and it was like I had nothing on at all, and the fact that it is baggy made it seem worse than nothing actually. It is soft and comfortable, but that is about it. I don’t understand how this is cold weather gear, and I have a good amount of cold weather gear. It’s also not worth returning because the delivery took 4 weeks (USPS’ fault admittedly) and their return policy states 30 days from shipment, and I’d have to pay for the return shipping myself so I’d net return maybe $15 after returning? Not worth it. There are thick animal wool balaclavas you can buy that are warm and wicking and actually do something. Being soft and relatively cheap are the only good points. I will either give it to someone else or try to find some other use for it. Maybe as spare fabric for the wool bottoms.
Sounds like you need to bump up to our Expedition Wool Balaclava. At 400 grams/m sq it is almost 2x as thick as the Midweight you have. We would be happy to set up an exchange for you if you are interested.
Fabric is super soft. My husband used it for going snow boarding and kept him warm up from the cold weather and also serves as a mask 😷
If you think these are great for a mask then you should check out our Multiclava!
Love the two balaclavas I ordered and they will be great for winter camping and sleeping at night. Soft and warm.
Thank you for your review!
Purchased This For Deer Hunting During Late Fall For Those Chilly Mornings In Late November. Just Like All My Other Minus33 Items It Is Very Well Made And Warm. I Will Be Purchasing The Expedition Weight For Late Season Hunting.
Own 3 Of The Midweight Neck Gaiters And Wanted One In Mossy Oak. Unfortunately They Were Sold Out So Purchased This Instead In Mossy Oak For Hunting. This Was Much Thinner Than The Neck Gaiters I Own. Fit Is Good And This Will Definitely Get Used Just Be Advised The Material Is Thinner Then Other Products That I Own Of Same Advertised Weight.
