Fit FAQs

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

Does your clothing run true to size?

Yes, our clothing runs true to size and is sized similar to most other American brands. If a sizing discrepancy is discovered, you will see fit advice in that product's specific listing.

Why Merino Wool?

Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

TOTAL EASY CARE

MACHINE WASH AND DRY

Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today's busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying.

Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.

Needs more of a true mock neck

This is fine overall and unique in that no one else offers something this thick, but I wish the neck was higher. (It made me realize how low the neck is on the standard crew necks.) I maybe have an unusually long neck, but my t-shirts come up higher than the neckline of these shirts (and so, annoyingly, can be seen.)

Jon,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. The Men's Mock Neck - Expedition is a new piece. Thank you for your feedback.

I have been in line work since the 80s worked in some cold states. Right now in my life I have to say this clothing is the BEST by far base layer I have ever owned. My feet was always cold in the fall till summer but since I have a pair for every day of the week of minus 33 calves socks my feet have never been cold at all and we just went through some -9 degree temperatures not including the windchill and my feet have NEVER been warmer even 100ft. In the air in a crane basket you lineman understand what I am saying. Will continue to purchase from this company very expedient on getting the order to you. Thank you minus 33!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ralf,
Thank you for braving the cold to keep power on for the rest of us. Keep up the great work and stay warm!

Another arrow to my quiver, a string to my bow...

I must now have 30 or more Minus33 pieces in my closet ranging from lightweight, short-sleeved undershirts through to expedition-weight hoodies and long johns. I love them all and almost exclusively wear merino as my first layer and more often than not my second and third layer up here during our freezing Northeast winters! In the summer they act as moisture-wicking, body-odor-resistant undergarments. They've held up extremely well to washing and drying and I love them all! My new expedition-weight, long-sleeved, mock-neck gives me a little extra neck coverage around my neck and I love it too. Thank you, Minus33, you're doing a great job!

Duncan,

Thank you for leaving us a fantastic review and for being a loyal customer. It's the customers like yourself that make us great! We are pleased to hear that you have so many of our garments for all seasons! Furthermore, that they have all held up over time. We design our garments to be able to be conveniently washed for our customers busy lifestyles. Also, It's great to hear that you are enjoying the newest edition to our expedition collection: the 100% Merino Wool Expedition Men's Mock Neck! It is perfect for when you're looking for that extra bit of coverage. Thanks again!

Stay warm,
