      Product Story

      Saratoga [sar-uh-toh-guh]

The battles of Saratoga in 1777 are generally regarded as the turning point in the American War of Independence. The Continental Army’s superior force and the extreme determination of its soldiers won the day. Saratoga National Historical Park serves as a preservation site today for the battlegrounds. Nearby Saratoga Lake has a long history of boating, rowing, and fishing.

      Learn About Layering

      Why Merino Wool?

      Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

      Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

      Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

      Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

      UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

      Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

Great but wish they offered more color selection for the tall sizes

These are one of the only lightweight 100% wool base layers available. Most companies blend cheap synthetics when making lighter base layers and will only use 100% wool for midweight and up.

Only problem is, they are way to short and ride up all day causing a break at my ankle unless using over the calf socks. This causes a cool chill at the ankle/ calve area. I can only use them with super long socks and that gives them A very limited use.

I love that they offer tall sizes and I am sure this would fix the problem however they are only offered in black which is a no go for hunting use because black does not blend in nature!

Please offer the tall sizes in at least one natural color (earthtones - greys, greens, tans and browns)

Until then I have switched to Woolx midweight bottoms (their lightweight has synthetics as mentioned so I had to get the mids) which are better in the length department and come in grey which does blend in the woods. But i prefer the lightweight bottoms because they are more versatile.

Hoping minus33 will offer the lightweight tall sizes in more colors so I can switch back!

      Chase,

I'm sorry, we hope to become more 'tree-friendly' in the future! It's not fair all our tall Brothers and Sisters have only one color.

      Lightweight Wool Long Bottoms

By far the best of their class. Well made and durable. I use these for everyday wear during the winter months in Montana. Comfortable in heated indoor environments, and adequately warm for outdoor wear most of the time. One should change to the midweight version for sustained wear outdoors in temperatures below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The expedition weight version is only appropriate--at least in my experience--for outdoor use in temperatures below zero degrees Fahrenheit.

      Best of the best

I absolutely love every minus33 Merino wool product I've ever purchased. So very soft and warm and last for years! A little expensive, but worth it to me because I work outside regardless of weather. Also of a much higher quality AND LESS EXPENSIVE than a certain other popular US brand.

      Johnny,

Happy to hear that you love our products.

Thank you for the great review!
