  1. 5 out of 5

    Chris Bremer - :

The best hoodie ever! I think this was my first Minus 33 item...and I have worn it 6 months of every year since I got it. I liked it enough to get a second one, one for outdoor use and abuse and one to keep nice for indoor events. The hood is big enough to accommodate a helmet, the sleeves are long enough for my ape arms, and it looks great without some brand logo on it. The warmest, best classic hoodie money can buy. Keep up the good work Minus 33.

    Taylor - :

The Kodiak Expedition is the Best Merino Wool hoodie on the market. I have owned two other Merino Wool Hoodies from other brands, they don't even come close to the quality of Minus 33. I look forward to trying there other products.

    Ian - :

Please, please, please, please don't change this product! It is perfect as is. The sizing is good, the hood is PERFECT – big enough to cover your noggin without looking like a speed skater, but not too big to be ridiculous. I wear mine every almost everyday and I haven't washed it yet (don't tell my wife!) When this thing finally does die, although it is showing no indicating of wearying out, I will immediately buy another one. I can't recommend this wool hoodie enough.

    scott - :

Very nice hoodie just recieved it and the fit is great and seems well made.Tested it out on a 30 degree day kept me warm and blocked the slight breeze we had going on. For sizing info ...I am 6'1" and 200 pounds and the xl fits great not too baggy kinda form fitting but still room underneath for a decent base layer. Generous hood but not too huge solid thumbs holes happy so far.

    Aaron Robnett - :

I have been searching for a heavy weight, full-zip hoodie for a couple of years now. I previously had a hoodie made by Surly Bikes. I was guessing it was 400 weight wool so I took a shot and ordered two of these hoodies. I reviewed the Surly sizing chart and found their small to be similar to the Minus33 medium. My black hoodie is tighter through the mid-section, while the grey is ever so slightly looser. Both fit excellent. Construction quality is excellent.

    John Cole - :

Great hoodie. I usually go with the construction type rain repellent big name hoodie. This hoodie has become the “go to” cold out hoodie as a layer under a flannel lined canvas type construction work jacket. I spent my days in cold conditions as a Construction Superintendent without working up a sweat. I would loose the jacket and wear the hoodie if conditions allowed depending if I would harm my hoodie.

Mid Layer
Mid Layer

The Mid Layer is your second layer. It should provide insulation, and be breathable. It can also be an outer layer if weather permits. Proper layering of your garments is very important and in extreme cases may save your life. Consider your activities carefully and plan for the unexpected. Learn more about layering.

Insulating Layer
Insulating Layer

The Insulating Layer is used when the weather leans more towards the cold side. It is a second Mid Layer that provides extra warmth and is breathable. Proper layering of your garments is very important and in extreme cases may save your life. Consider your activities carefully and plan for the unexpected. Learn more about layering.

Relaxed Fit
Relaxed Fit

A little more room than you would find in a Regular fit. Best alone, or as a mid, insulating, or outer layer. If you would like a tighter fit, try going to the next size down. Learn About Fit & Sizing.

Full Zip
Full Zip

Full zippered style allows for easy layering and taking the piece on and off.

Thumb Holes
Thumb Holes

Thumb holes are slits in fabric near the cuff of a sleeve to allow thumbs to go through. This allows for extra coverage on the back of the hands and palms to provide extra warmth and also makes it easier to pull layers under others.

Zipper Garage
Zipper Garage

A zipper garage provides a place at the top of the zipper for the zipper pulls to go which reduces chafing and irritation. Zipper garage also prevents the cold metal from touching the skin.

Full coverage hood. Some styles, such as our Trailblazer Hoody, have a slim fit hood which works great underneath a helmet. Other styles, like our Kodiak Hoody, have an oversized hood which will fit over a helmet. Both hooded styles provide great coverage.

Brushed Interior
Brushed Interior

Brushed interior is treated with a brushing process to raise the nap and give a softer, warmer finish.

Ribbed Cuffs
Ribbed Cuffs

Ribbed cuffs are more durable, and stretch with your body. Because they stretch to fit, they help keep heat locked into your body.

Total Easy Care
Total Easy Care TEC

Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today’s busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying. Even after frequent laundering they retain an ‘as new’ appearance. They won’t shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment. TEC is a textile innovation used by Minus33 that was developed by the Woolmark Company.

Moisture Wicking
Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere. Wool is a classic natural insulator, but is just as effective in warmer weather due to its rapid moisture wicking ability. Learn more about wool properties.

Anti-Microbial and Odor Resistant
Anti Microbial and Odor Resistant

With less moisture comes less odor. Minus33 Merino Wool resists against microbes and odor, so foot fungus and smelly odor will NOT be a problem while wearing our products. Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away. This means you don’t have to wash wool as often. Less laundry means less water being used, benefiting our planet. Learn more about wool properties.

Insulates When Wet
Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, whether it be from sweat, weather, or water bodies, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials. This is especially important if you are in a survival situation, and can help prevent or delay hypothermia depending on the conditions. Learn more about wool properties.

Fire Resistant
Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do. For this reason, merino is popular among military, firefighting, and law enforcement communities. Learn more about wool properties.

UV Protection
