why merino wool
Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.
Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.
Insulates When Wet
Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.
Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.
Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.
Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.
MACHINE WASH AND DRY
Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today's busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying.
Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.
A friend raved about her Minus33 top so I just had to try one and I'm glad I did. This item is a perfect midweight layer, comfortable to wear and warm. I've washed it twice and it seems to be holding up well. I also purchased a lightweight layer, which worked equally well.
We're so glad you love the 100% Merino Wool Ossipee Women's Crew - Midweight! It's a great layer that is comfortable to wear and warm. We're glad to hear that it's holding up well after two washes and that it works well as a lightweight layer. Thanks for the great review!
I have one in forest green and one in burgundy. Both are soft, warm, and comfy. I am 5'6", 130 pounds, slender-athletic build and the medium fits perfectly. I live in the PNW where the wet cold just kind of seeps into your bones, so basic clothing items like these improve my quality of life.
Thanks for the review! We're glad you're enjoying our 100% Merino Wool Ossipee Women's Crew - Midweight shirt. We hope you keep wearing it in cold weather!
I know it is a shirt, kind of like a T-shirt, BUT it's wool, the softest, smoothest wool ever! Here in California, where we are getting a lot of rain this year, but where it's still warmer than most of the North and NE or AK, it's a sweater. I now own 4! 2 black, 1 green, & 1 wine color (not my favorite). I love the black. I dress it up to go out & wear it plain to walk the dog. I'm 5'6", 138 lbs, & wear a medium.
We are extremely happy to hear that you think our 100% Merino Wool Ossipee Women's Crew - Midweight, is the BEST sweater ever, with its versatility and warmth.

This is a smarter wool top, soft & cozy, nice style etc but would appreciate it even more if it had been manufactured in NH.
Glad to hear that our 100% Merino Wool Ossipee Women's Crew - Midweight, is soft and cozy! We are actively working on bringing manufacturing back here to the USA. As a 100 year old company, we hear you and agree!
Thank you for your continued support and feedback, we hope you will continue to enjoy our merino wool products as much as we do!
I love Minus 33 women's tops. I bought several Ossipee crews tops last year for myself and for gifts. This year, I wanted to replace a very worn Smartwool top (15+ years old?) with a new Minus 33 Ossipee mid weight crew only to find that the one I received is considerable smaller than last year's model. Most notable are shorter sleeves and length. Not a deal breaker but really liked the sleeve length in the older crew. I would have rated the top 5 stars if not for the reduced size. Just for the record, I am a petite size small in general sizing.
