      Learn About Layering

      Why Merino Wool?

      Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

      Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

      Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

      Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

      UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

      Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

nice, light weight, warm, but cool when sweating

      Softest Shirt Ever

First off this is the softest merino wool shirt I have ever worn, I own merino shirts from 3 other brands as reference. I would consider the fit to be fairly athletic (43in chest, 210lbs) but not overly tight. The shirt moves well with your body and has a long body length. It is also a bit heavier material than I would have thought lightweight would be. But is serving me well in the shoulder season in Scotland and should be a great summer shirt as well. The collar comes a bit further up my neck than I prefer but because of the quality of the material and cut it isn't bothersome and I often forget about it. As a testament to the shirts comfort, I had originally bought this as a gym/workout shirt but instead us it as an everyday shirt.

      Warm and light

First time I've given a wool t-shirt a shot. I go out in the cold and wet in the PNW a lot for hiking and photography, also fight with the compromise between the bulk for staying warm or less layers so I can move quickly to get a fleeting shot. Wow what difference the wool makes! Keeps my core warm when I'm out and about. Plus its soft and pretty stink free. The one drawback for me is although its stretchy it feels a little snug, but then I am a woman who prefers the guy's t-shirts so it may be a body shape thing as well.

      Replaces my synthetic T-shirts

Usually I wear a synthetic wicking t-shirt as the next-to-skin base layer for cold weather hiking. They serve a purpose, but are not particularly comfortable.

Today I wore the Minus 33 shirt. What a difference. It was comfortable, never got slick feeling, and was form fitting but with enough stretch to not feel binding. Great shirt. I bought a 2nd one when I got home,

Thank you for sharing your experiences with our Merino Wool T so far! Watch out, before you know it you'll have all the colors ;)
