Layers For Biking

Wool Layers for Biking

It’s all about the layers. Even more so in the rainy, Pacific Northwest winter. Cold is one thing, but when you add rain into the mix things can get tricky. With the perfect system of Minus33 wool attire I can stay comfortable on the trails and ride my bike all season long!

Here's a breakdown of my favorite cold weather biking layers...

Disclosure: I received these products at a discount or for free in exchange for my honest opinion.

Lafayette Women’s Lightweight Wool Tank Top

The Lafayette Tank is a great next to skin layer under a long sleeve top.

This is the perfect next to skin base layer and gets almost daily use. I like this under other layers, as I like to keep my core extra warm. It works great under the next long sleeve layer, whether it’s a work day under professional attire, or under another wool long sleeve when getting outside.

Moriah Lightweight Wool Crew

A staple for almost daily use. The perfect thickness for a cozy base layer. I wear this on colder mountain bike rides under a flannel or rain jacket. Also great for layering under work attire.

Ossipee Women’s Midweight Wool Crew

The black / charcoal colorway is super sleek as a standalone piece, and I always get compliments when I wear it.

Sequoia Women’s Midweight Wool Zip

Possibly the best option for mountain biking.

This is my go-to on a dry, mild day on the trail. Possibly the best option for mountain biking. I love the zipper so much. Unzipped for the long climb up the mountain, then zipped up for the ride down. The temperature regulation option with this piece is on point. The Sequoia pairs perfectly with the Lafayette underneath.

Midweight Wool Neck Gaiter

Possibly the most underrated piece of gear! I think everyone needs this! It is so versatile. It keeps the face and ears warm and happy and if you get too hot it’s easy to pull down or take off and pack away. It’s awesome for long, wind filled descents!

Woolverino Women’s Midweight Leggings

I wear these under baggy mountain bike shorts for a next to skin layer. Great on cold, rainy rides. Also equally wonderful under spandex leggings.

Spur Wool Visor Beanie

This is my favorite beanie. It covers my ears perfectly with a double layer fold. The visor acts as a shield and blocks sun or rain. Some beanies are too bulky underneath a helmet while this one works flawlessly. It’s also a great standalone piece that looks as stylish as it is functionable.

Merino Wool Glove Liner

Two Gloves are better than one!

For extra cold days when one glove isn't enough. I like that these work with most of the gloves I already own. Extra warmth without too much bulk so that you don’t have strangled fingers.
