US Telemark Ski Team - A Message from the President

After months of planning, I'm super excited that we have now announced that USTSA will be hosting two FIS World Cup Telemark events in Vermont this coming January! With our two amazing host partners, Suicide Six and Sugarbush, we have the opportunity to dramatically increase the awareness of Telemark skiing and Telemark racing while also providing two amazing venues, both for athletes and spectators.
Thanks to the Olympic Channel and to FIS, we should be able to reach tens if not hundreds of thousands of people and share with them the amazing sport which is telemark skiing. We will provide additional details around the opening ceremonies, timing of events, and full schedules for each of these two series over the coming months but we really hope to see you out there! While these will certainly be the biggest events of our season they are only a small portion of the overall schedule.
The race side of the organization has also been hard at work setting up our "regular season" races in the Rockies and New England as well as setting the venue and the dates for the Karbon National Championships! For the Freeski segment, we are again planning to host the Freeheel Life Cup at Grand Targhee and are busy analyzing venues to expand the circuit. We will continue to deliver on our promises to provide the best and broadest schedule of Telemark events possible! The full USTSA season schedule will be ready soon and will be posted here and distributed via USTSA social media channels once it is available.
This season promises to not only provide more opportunities to compete in Telemark events but also unparalleled distribution and awareness of Telemark skiing in the US. As we continue to work hard to develop our amazing sport, please do let us know if you have any feedback as to how we might improve upon the schedule or attract more participants. The Freeheel community is a huge part of what makes this such an enjoyable experience for all of us and the more we can do to foster and develop that community, the better. Though it is still August, I can already feel the excitement brewing for the coming season!
