Winds, Walleyes and Minus33

by Kyle Figgins

This Past Weekend was the 2016 Minnesota Walleye Opener. The hopes were high that we would have nice weather and calm conditions, but that wasn’t the case. Mother Nature threw everything she had at us on the water of Leech Lake! Saturday brought snow, rain and gail force winds of up to 50 MPH, producing 5-6 foot swells. Minus33 kept us committed to taking on Mother Nature and winning!

Saturday morning started off like every other, coffee, breakfast and layering up with Minus33 mid- weight and heavy weight merino wool. That first morning brought some water onto us. The mid-weight kept the moisture away from out body while the light weight kept us warm. We lasted longer than 90% of the fisherman on the water that morning and I have to give all the credit to my Minus33. My father (pictured) doesn’t do the weather justice, but he was all smiles after landing the 25” Walleye on Saturday afternoon.

I have fished a lot of water over the years and this was some of roughest I have been on. These conditions create moisture and you need something that is going to keep the moisture out and keep the warmth in. Minus33 is essential to everyday fishing and hunting in Minnesota. The only way to catch fish is to be where they are regardless of weather.

My passion for fishing can be demanding at times and I rely on products that work. Minus33 is one of these products that I can truly say it has allowed me, and others around me, to conquer the worst conditions Mother Nature has for us. When you can take on Mother Nature, you want to use products that will help you win. Minus 33 is one of these products and that’s why I use it! Happy Fishing!
