    Rob - :

It just arrived and I can't wait to field test it. The quality seems excellent and fit is great. It's soft and warm. Should be just what I need for my cold weather expeditions.

    Abe Gold - :

Very soft and comfortable, even my girlfriend who won't wear my Ibex merino wore this all day. The Ibex is warmer, denser. The small fits my 6' 140 pounds well.

    Cody - :

Amazing mid layer or outer layer quarter zip! So comfortable I had to get my girlfriend the women's version because she was always trying to wear mine! She literally wears hers every week.

    Jared Stansfield - :

nice stuff. nothing like merino wool. now just get the wool from the US instead of China and it would be perfect.

    TJ Mills - :

My favorite top garment. Looks great, warm soft. I have long arms and the small fits my 6'2" 150 lb frame well. After a few washings it is a bit tighter. May move to a medium when this wears out.

  6. 5 out of 5

    William Smith - :

I bought the Tan 499 version to use with the Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System for the Army. Pros: as all merino wool products, smells much better after wearing for a long amount of time compared to the issue polyester stuff. Lightweight and breathable Cons: the zipper is small and hard to use without taking your gloves off Not very thick if you're trying to use as a replacement for the issue waffle top The interior of the collar has a black "Minus33" logo band running all the way around, which must be covered up with some Tan 499 grossgrain ribbon in order to use in uniform.

Our Midweight styles have all the same natural qualities as our Lightweight Merino Wool, with greater insulation. Minus33 Merino Wool Clothing is perfect as a base layer for a day on the slopes or as an emergency pullover when a cold front rolls in just before you summit.

Great for: hiking, camping, lifestyle, snowsports, hunting, fishing. Temperature Recommendation: High Activity - 0° - 30°, Low Activity - 30° - 60°.

Mid Layer
Mid Layer

The Mid Layer is your second layer. It should provide insulation, and be breathable. It can also be an outer layer if weather permits. Proper layering of your garments is very important and in extreme cases may save your life. Consider your activities carefully and plan for the unexpected. Learn more about layering.

Regular Fit
Regular Fit

Standard fit with a little bit of room, but not baggy. Works best as a base layer, or when worn alone. Can also be worn as a mid or insulating layer. If you are looking for a tighter, athletic fit, try going to the next size down. Learn About Fit & Sizing.

1/4 Zip
Quarter Zip

1/4 Zipper to allow for venting when down and providing a mock neck when zippered up.

Mock Neck
Mock Neck

Mock neck adds extra warmth without being too bulky. Halfway between a turtle neck and a crew neck, this style sits close to the neck and gives you an extra bit of fabric between your neck and your second or shell layer.

Zipper Garage
Zipper Garage

A zipper garage provides a place at the top of the zipper for the zipper pulls to go which reduces chafing and irritation. Zipper garage also prevents the cold metal from touching the skin.

Tagless Construction
Tagless Construction

Tagless labeling ends the need for a traditional tag. Tagless garments allow for increased comfort by eliminating the itching and scratching associated with a traditional tag.

Flat Lock Seams
Flat Lock Seams

Flat lock seams allow for ultimate comfort, preventing chafing and allowing your clothes to move with you. Flat lock seams are stronger, helping your garments last.

Total Easy Care
Total Easy Care TEC

Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today’s busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying. Even after frequent laundering they retain an ‘as new’ appearance. They won’t shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment. TEC is a textile innovation used by Minus33 that was developed by the Woolmark Company.

Moisture Wicking
Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere. Wool is a classic natural insulator, but is just as effective in warmer weather due to its rapid moisture wicking ability. Learn more about wool properties.

Anti-Microbial and Odor Resistant
Anti Microbial and Odor Resistant

With less moisture comes less odor. Minus33 Merino Wool resists against microbes and odor, so foot fungus and smelly odor will NOT be a problem while wearing our products. Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away. This means you don’t have to wash wool as often. Less laundry means less water being used, benefiting our planet. Learn more about wool properties.

Insulates When Wet
Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, whether it be from sweat, weather, or water bodies, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials. This is especially important if you are in a survival situation, and can help prevent or delay hypothermia depending on the conditions. Learn more about wool properties.

Fire Resistant
Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do. For this reason, merino is popular among military, firefighting, and law enforcement communities. Learn more about wool properties.

UV Protection
