Versatile and comfortable, our Merino Wool will always have your back. Designed as a three-season garment, our Midweight works great as either a base or mid layer.

      Midweight Details

Our Midweight styles have all the same natural qualities as our Lightweight Merino Wool, with greater insulation. Minus33 Merino Wool Clothing is perfect as a base layer for a day on the slopes or as an emergency pullover when a cold front rolls in just before you summit.

      Why Merino Wool?

      Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

      Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

      Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

      Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

      UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

      Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

      Snuggly

Try this for a cozy under layer, pajama top on cool nights, comfy slip-into-the-weekend top, or just add a scarf and radiate on Zoom. I hate to take this off.

If you hate to take it off it sounds like it is time to order more colors!! Thank you for your review!!

      Base layer

Recently moved to Anchorage AK. Needed base layers. Would prefer minus 33 to smart wool. The material feels softer

Sounds like you NEED to stock up!!! Thank you for the review.

Why didn’t I find these years ago?

I’m an old lady in her 60’s, live in the Pacific Northwest and I’m cold all winter long.
No, it’s not like back east, but it rains for months on end during which time we may not see the sun at all. (Beware those with SAD!)
I never knew about wool base layers and stumbled upon them at our local backpacking store. The workers there recommended Minus33 over the other brands (including Smartwool)
I bought the Midweight tops and bottoms and now wear them to bed every night and under my overalls during the day.
Omg! What a difference ! I no longer dread getting out of bed at 5 am. I’m thrilled to have found these. I plan on getting about 5 complete pairs so I’m never without.

So glad to hear this! Thank you for the great review.

      Great shirt

Perfect mid weight shirt. This is well made, soft, perfect density as a base layer or on its own. Finish at neck and cuffs is excellent, no stretching or loose seams. I own smartwool, woolx, and wuru (I live in merino September to May) and this is my first Minus33. I’m hooked. I’m 5’8” 135 lbs with longish arms and a longish upper body. The medium fit perfectly. Large would probably have been fine too but I wanted this shirt more fitted. I got one in navy and one in cream and both colors are true, even, and saturated.

Thank you for the wonderful review. So many colors available in this top too!
