Fit FAQs

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

Does your clothing run true to size?

Yes, our clothing runs true to size and is sized similar to most other American brands. If a sizing discrepancy is discovered, you will see fit advice in that product's specific listing.

Learn About Layering

Why Merino Wool?

Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

TOTAL EASY CARE

MACHINE WASH AND DRY

Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today's busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying.

Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.

Trying to go Natural

I am trying to move from man-made fiber clothing back to natural. Cotton is great but doesn't work well in a polo shirt (IMHO). These polos are my first attempt at polos made from Merino wool. The look and comfort are excellent. I have not had them long, but my initial reaction is I have found a replacement for my polyester polos. They are comfortable, fit well, look like a polo should, and feel great.

Glad you are loving them so far. Thank you for your review.

more colors please

Prefect polo. I am 6’2”, 170 with a 39” chest and the medium fits perfect. I would love to see this available in olive, brown, burgundy, and charcoal.

Jon,

Thank you for your positive review and suggestion! We are happy to hear that our Lightweight 100% Merino Wool Kearsarge Polo fits you perfectly. We will definitely consider adding more colors to our collection, including olive, brown, burgundy, and charcoal. Stay tuned for updates!

Perfect in everyway except durability

I have bought many minus33 polos, base layers and half zips since 2013. These polos feel amazing in any temperatures and look great for just about any occasion. Just came back to purchase my 6th polo; its a love/hate thing because I have to buy a new one each year due to the lightweight polos developing holes after about 40 days of wear especially untucked due to belt buckle. These merino wool shirts I can wear for 3-4 days straight of intense travel and living; no smell!. I am 5'-10" 160# and medium fits great.

Michael,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review! We are happy to hear that you understand the wonders of Merino Wool and travel. Nothing compares! We also love that you are enjoying the lightweight polos. We recently developed some patches for our gear, if you run into any struggles going forward, give us a call and we can send along a patch to help you out!
