          Kancamagus [kank-uh-mah-gus]

The Kanc is a stretch of land from Lincoln to Conway, New Hampshire. Named after Kancamagus, or “Fearless One”, the once ruler of Southern New Hampshire. The Kancamagus Highway (NH-112) is famous for its beautiful ride with many trailheads and pull-offs to see natural sights.

          Why Merino Wool?

          Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

          Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

          Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

          Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

          UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

          Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

          China again

I was thinking that since you were in NH and selling a good product it would be made in the states, preferably in Ashland. What a disappointment to find it is another China made product!

          Hi Kathleen,

Our Mountain Heritage Sock Collection, as well as a select few additional styles, are made right here in Ashland New Hampshire. As for the rest of our product we manufacture globally ranging from South East Asia to Eastern Europe. If you have any questions about where a specific product is made please reach out to us and we will be happy to assist!

          Well worth the price!

I recently took these on a three day backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains at around 10,500 ft. The temperature got down in th low forties and the sleeping bag I bought was not warm enough so I put these on and with a long sleeved shirt and wool socks, they kept me plenty warm enough. They are very comfortable and caused me no itching unlike most wool. I am definitely planning a purchasing more items from this company.

Glad you had them with you so you could get warm! Thank you for the review.

          Great gear

I love the softness and the way it fits. Can’t wait until it gets cold enough to try it.

Thank you for leaving us a review!

Six years old and still going strong

I consistently recommend these lyers to anyone I meet if we're talking about long underwear or cold weather. This stuff is awesome. Five stars. I bought a single pair of these six years ago and finally decided to write a review - Think I tested them enough. No holes or tears, no worn-out spots, and they've survived surprisingly well for what I wear them for. This is the most comfortable base layer I own. The fit runs slightly long in the leg but I'm 5'8", 190 lbs and bought a large so I think most people buying larges are probably a little taller. I've worn these everywhere from sailing down the sounds of the North Carolina coast in February to backpacking up the coast of Washington state in the Olympics in July. They go everywhere with me because they're super soft, they're warm, they don't stink, and they drain water. I wore them as outerwear for a swampy run in Pennsylvania yesterday, 40 degrees and overcast with standing water on a riverside trail, and my legs stayed warm. Big thing I noticed, when I crossed feeder streams my lower legs would get soaked (obvi), but water drained out of the wool and it felt almost dry on my skin after a few seconds - Think this is because some parts of wool fibers are hydrophobic. Really strange but really cool to watch the water receding down the pant leg. I expected the cold wet feeling but was pleasantly surprised. You don't get that cold fabric feeling like if you've ever left the gym in cold weather in a wet synthetic shirt...Where the wet poly immediately chills and feels ice cold on your skin. No clamminess, no cold fabric feel, still can't believe it feels as warm and snuggly while wet as it did. I really want to pick up an expedition-weight set just to wear around the house of for low-impact stuff...will prob get around to it one of these days!

Thank you for such an in depth product review Matt! We're glad you're loving it so far!
