    Why Merino Wool?

    Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

    Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

    Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

    Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

    UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

    Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

    Plastic Hats Stink…

Plastic Hats Stink On My Balding Head After One Day Whereas This Wool Hat Smells Swell After Weeks Of Use. This Is The Case With Other Wool Hats Too, As Long As They Do Not Have A Plastic Fleece Liner Band. This Hat Doesn't Need A Liner Because The Wool Used Does Not Itch At All. And It Isn't Too Expensive Like Many Wool Products. I've Had My Hat For A Month Now And Very Happy With It. Bought It At KTP. Planning To Buy More.

    Amazing hat

I have searched high and low for a warm hat that has some extra room in it and also covers the ears. This hat is phenomenal -- I am a women with a relatively small head, but for me it does in fact have extra room and yet comes down over my ears and to the low back of my neck (even after washing). It has two layers of wool and is not only super comfortable on (can a hat be luxurious?), but is actually warm at least down to 30 degrees. It isn't super warm when you first put it on, but as you continue to wear it, you are pleasantly surprised at how warm your head gets (I tend to run cold so for me this is a nice change of pace). I think it's the extra space and the double layer of wool -- holds a cushion of heat in around your head. Though it's not too big -- it fits under my hood, though I could not close the ties on the hood (but I was also wearing a scarf). The good old-fashioned quality you expect from Minus33. My only complaint is that after washing (on cold, delicate, inside out, in a mesh bag), there are a couple of loose threads on the top exterior. I am waiting to see if they will run, but so far they have not and I may be able to just trim them. I would have really liked it if this hat came in solid black and maybe some pretty colors -- baby blue, baby pink, lavender, dusky plum, teal, peach, raspberry/tropical pink, etc. I'd also like to see a men's version of this hat in black, navy blue, gray, forest green, baby blue, and a purplish maroon (I don't think this hat would be as nicely roomy on a man's head as it is on mine).

    Minus33 is primo!

The beanie I bought from Minus33 is incredibly crafted. It regulates my temperature by keeping my head warm in freezing weather, but not overheating it. The wool is not itchy and I don’t get “hat hair” from it. I love it! I have already bought more products from Minus33. They’re the best!

    Kathryn,

We are very happy to hear that our Minus33 Merino Wool Timber Wool Beanie Hat works great at regulating your temperature.
