Everything you know and love in our Kodiak Expedition Hoody, available in women's sizes! The Aleutian Expedition Hoody features a more tailored shape compared to the Kodiak, and just like the Kodiak, it will be the warmest hoody you own. Brushed merino interior helps trap body heat, while thumbholes keep your hands protected yet accessible. Complete with a fully backed zipper garage and roomy hood, the Aleutian keeps heat locked in from every angle. New to the design is an interior stash pocket so that your phone or snacks can stay warm, too.

      Product Story

      Aleutian [el-lu-shun]

The Aleutian Islands are a chain of volcanic islands off the coast of Alaska. There are 14 large islands and 55 smaller ones that belong to both the United States and Russia. The mean annual temperature for Unalaska, the most populated island of the group, is about 38F, being about 30F in January and about 52F in August. Unalaska is said to be one of the rainiest places in the US. On the less mountainous islands, the raising of sheep and reindeer was once believed to be practicable.

      Learn About Layering

      Why Merino Wool?

      Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

      Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

      Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

      Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

      UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

      Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.
