Successful barbecue festival in Lake Placid turns over profits to benefit local Shipman Youth Center
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – All the bills have been paid. The silent auction has been calculated. Two separate raffles have been settled.
At the end of last weekend’s 13th Annual I Love BBQ and Music Festival, USA Luge turned over in excess of $24,000 to the Shipman Youth Center in Lake Placid. The beneficiary uses the funds to support children’s programs.
“The weather was beautiful and we had a great response to some new elements of the barbecue festival,” said Dmitry Feld, Marketing Manager for USA Luge and the lead organizer for this yearly event. “We tied our record of 39 barbecue teams from North America; the Kids in the Kitchen and youth world championship competitions were very successful; Best Ribs in the East was a landslide success; and we launched the new North American BBQ Brawl. These will all be back next year. We had super efforts from our volunteers in very hot conditions, and our long list of sponsors really showed their generosity.”
Next year’s I Love BBQ and Music Festival is set for July 5-7, also on the Olympic Oval on Main Street in Lake Placid.
This year’s fundraising effort brings the 13-year total in excess of $270,000 for the Shipman Youth Center.
“Already, I’m getting messages from judges for next year’s event. They wanted to be the first to sign up. This is amazing.”
Almost as amazing as the money generated to positively impact the youth of Lake Placid.
