Meet Kyle

About Kyle

Roots coming from Northern Minnesota, Kyle has traveled much of our nation in pursuit of a challenge. From the Rocky Mountains in search of the ultimate high altitude game, to the oceans of Mexico in search of some underwater giants. The Woods and Water were a big part of his life growing up. The trials of success and failure have set him up to become successful in his field of work, sale and finance. Married with 3 dogs and a kid on the way, Kyle looks forward to passing on the challenges of the field to his kids and turn them into a passion and obsession for them as well. He hopes to one day bring his success into the woods and water industry that has taught him so much.

“I am a believer that in your passion is what makes you successful as a person. My drive for the outdoors drives me in my work field, sales and finance. I was born into both business and the outdoors, coming from a long line of outdoorsmen and women in my family. Enjoying the peace of the north woods on a fall day or the serenity of the open water in the spring and summer, my mind travels endlessly to all aspects of hunting and fishing. It’s more than just the challenge of being successful, it’s about being in our element in its most natural form. Understanding the most natural things to us and not forgetting what brought me to where I am. For that reason, I am a Merinoholic!”

This lake produces some of the most sought after walleyes in North America. “Greenbacks” as they call them, are walleyes with a beautiful green hue to them –  almost looking transparent at times. These fish are spectacular to catch, however doing so can drive any great angler crazy trying to find them. The wind is unbearable at times and the terrain can be extremely dangerous.READ MORE

Winds, Walleyes and Minus33

This Past Weekend was the 2016 Minnesota Walleye Opener. The hopes were high that we would have nice weather and calm conditions, but that wasn’t the case. Mother Nature threw everything she had at us on the water of Leech Lake! Saturday brought snow, rain and gail force winds of up to 50 MPH, producing 5-6 foot swells. Minus33 kept us committed to taking on Mother Nature and winning!

A Weekend On Rainy

Every time you head to the upper most point of Minnesota, you never really know what to expect. Lake of the Woods and Rainy Lake both cover a large majority of the border between Minnesota and Canada, and the weather is unpredictable at times. However, Rainy Lake holds the fish that every angler in Minnesota dreams of, BIG.

The Power of Spring

Canadian weather can be unpredictable in the spring. What draw me to this wonderful rocking place are the cold water walleyes that many people seek during the early spring of fishing season. This is the first time I discovered how wonderful Minus33 actually is.

When You’re Up High in the Back-country

When you’re high in the back-country of elk country, you need clothing that will help keep you cool, dry and warm all at the same time. I need something that is going to keep me going long after the rest of me has all but quit. Quality clothing helps keep the hunter moving and feeling fresh. Minus33 is some of the best around when it comes to this. The ability to wick sweat, dry in minutes and also to keep you warm when the temperatures decides to drop is crucial. It’s the ultimate clothing brand for the serious hunter. The back-country is an unforgiving place, miles from roads and even further from cell phone service. Your clothing is you’re most vital part of your gear. It keeps you from being exposed to the harsh elements of fall in the mountains.
