Gotta Get Up To Get Down: 30 Mile Ride
Made the trip south from Washington to Oregon late this spring to ride some mountain bikes in Oakridge. This tiny town is slowly but surely becoming a destination on the map. Old school singletrack coupled with Cascade alpine makes for some truly amazing riding. A lot of people like to get shuttled to the top for the descent, but sometimes you gotta get up to get down. In this case we chose Moon Point… total ride: 30 miles & 5,500 vertical feet.
A little over two hours of climbing up a forest road. Gravel grinding, sweating (no big deal thanks to wool) & one snack break later… we made it to the top! The clouds cooperated & we were treated with a nice view of the Willamette National Forest. Now it’s time to ride down. The real reward!
Flying down a mountain is always a good time, but there is for sure something even more sweet in knowing you got there entirely via your own power. Shuttles be damned! I earned this! Just enough roots, rocks & steep descent for an all-around killer ride.
